Son of Sardaar 2 vs Dhadak 2 Day 1 Box Office: Ajay Devgn Takes the Lead Over Siddhant & Triptii’s Film, But It’s Not a Clear Win Yet

Two much-awaited sequels — Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 — hit the big screens this weekend. However, despite the buzz around their release, both films failed to create strong pre-release hype and couldn't pull large crowds on Day 1. As a result, their opening day collections stayed in single digits. Here's how Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 fared at the box office on Day 1.

Son of Sardaar 2 Beats Dhadak 2 on Day 1 Box Office – But the Real Battle Has Just Begun!

Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s Son of Sardaar 2 clearly had the upper hand on opening day, raking in around ₹6.50 to ₹7 crore nett. In comparison, Dhadak 2, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, collected a modest ₹3.50 to ₹4 crore nett on Day 1.

However, there’s more to the story. Dhadak 2 followed a limited release strategy, hitting nearly half the number of screens that Son of Sardaar 2 did. So, despite the gap in collections, the romantic drama held its ground fairly well considering its scale and the relatively newer star cast.

While an opening under ₹15 crore is underwhelming for a sequel led by an A-lister like Ajay Devgn, Dhadak 2’s performance isn’t bad at all. With positive word-of-mouth and increasing buzz, don’t be surprised if Dhadak 2 picks up pace and ends up overtaking Son of Sardaar 2 in the long run — it definitely has the potential.
